Obtaining, Implementing, and Paying for Services

How Can Services Be Obtained?

An MPSS Home Care staff member is always available to answer any questions about home health care and is able to start care within a few hours of notice. MPSS Home Care will contact the physician for further information if needed.

How Are Services Implemented?

A nurse visits the home to assess the patient's health care needs in the home, and to
determine the family's ability to participate in care. A care plan is then established based on
the nurse's observations, family needs, and doctor's orders. The amount and type of
services provided varies according to the patient's needs and the insurance plan involved.

Who Pays for Services?

The costs of specific home health care services are reimbursed by private or group insurance,
Medicare, Missouri Medicaid, Kansas Medicaid, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas City, Long Term Care insurance policies, and private pay. MPSS Home Care will assist you in determining eligibility and coverage benefits. For your convenience we accept cash, check, Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express.

When Will Medicare Cover Home Health Services?

Medicare will cover home health services if the following conditions are met:

  • Client must have benefits through Medicare
  • Services must be ordered by a physician
  • Client must require intermittent skilled nursing or physical therapy or speech therapy
  • Client must be homebound

To What Extent Will Long Term Insurance Policies Cover Home health Services?

Each Long Term Care insurance policy is different. You may need to review your policy with your insurance agent to determine what individual benefits you may qualify for.
